Vivian Tian joins Senedi Project Management Team

We recently found another gem to join us! Vivian Tian is no stranger to the Malaysian entrepreneurial community as she used to help Warisan Global manage GEW Malaysia activities. After Warisan Global, Vivian joined a local events organizing company and has recently decided to join Senedi! Needless to say, we're thrilled to have her on the team.

Here's a little bit about her:

"I am from China and all my friends say now I am more like Malaysian. I "blame" that on all the yummy Malaysian food ;-). I like travelling, watching movies (especially musical) and cooking. I am curious about how things work and how new technology can help us in our daily life. So Senedi gives me a lot of opportunities to learn new things. I love it and look forward to this new journey!"

ASEAN Economic Community by 2015

ASEAN countries have signed on to achieve the goal of an ASEAN Economic Community by 2015, which is just 3 years away. However, most businesses in this region of 600 million people and a combined GDP of USD1.8 trillion do not factor AEC2015 into their plans. That is the underlying challenge in CARI's mission to provide "Pragmatic Advocacy". Their website contains a wealth of information which is very useful for anyone or any business interested to leverage on AEC2015.

Merry Christmas and Happy 2012!

In case you've missed our recruitment blasts, we have been talking to as many people as possible, rounding up talents and expanding the team. In 2012, we are going to see very exciting changes (to be announced soon!) and more awesome projects. Check out our job posting via Senedi Careers at LinkedIn. We are recruiting software engineers and QA but if you think you fall somewhere in between or across any role in a software development cycle, send us a note anyway. Let's have a chat.

With love from:
Ching Yee, Karyn and all of us at Senedi

Carrier IQ Tracking Scandal and Why You Should Know About It

If you are at all concerned about privacy and who's "listening in" on all your mobile phone activity, you should get worried. Carrier IQ, a diagnostic tool, is possibly gathering information about your activity, including SMS and keystrokes, according to researcher Trevor Eckhart.

Find out more via Mashable's articles on the Carrier IQ tracking scandal (thanks Eloise for sharing!) and how to block it on your iPhone. And if you are using an Android phone, there's an app to detect it

Software Engineers Wanted. Caffeine Provided.

The bad news is: Coffee is expected to run out more frequently. The good news is: We are hiring again!

This time, we are opening up 3 positions for developers. Yeah, we're expecting that it isn't going to be an easy task finding people who (A) want to consider moving out of their jobs before "year end appraisal for bonus time" and (B) want to step outside of their comfort zone and see if we can play in the second economy created by digitization. Still, we are positive that there ARE people who would step up to the challenge, like Kelvin and Kent

So anyway... We are looking for software engineers to join the crew. We're constantly improving our work environment, like providing the flexibility to Work From Home (valued very much by our team especially those with kids), an extra LCD screen for designers/developers (well, they said it would help....) and makan-together sessions (ok, we haven't had this in a while but we did celebrate Kent's birthday with a yummy cake!).
